Course Module

A step-by-step journey into working with sound — from first ideas to complete tracks, guided from your own space. Designed for beginners, with live online sessions and guided practice you can carry forward at your own pace.

Introduction to Sound & Ableton Live

Begin by understanding the fundamentals of sound and music. Through live sessions, you’ll learn to navigate Ableton Live, explore its interface, and start building simple ideas using MIDI and audio.

Working with MIDI, Audio & Structure

Learn how to create and shape musical ideas from home. You’ll work with MIDI and audio tracks, explore rhythm and melody, and begin arranging your ideas into structured compositions.

Sampling, Workflow & Track Building

Develop a practical workflow using sampling, automation, and MIDI effects. You’ll learn how to build, organise, and refine your tracks with clarity and direction.

Sound Design, Synthesis & Mixing

Explore how sound can be shaped and transformed. Through synthesis, resampling, and audio processing, you’ll begin developing your own sonic palette while learning to mix your tracks with balance and depth.

Refinement, Pre-Mastering & Expansion

Take your tracks further by refining and preparing them for output. You’ll explore advanced mixing, pre-mastering, plugins, and tools like Max for Live to expand your production practice.

Creative Direction & Storytelling

Move beyond technique into intention. You’ll learn to develop themes, build narratives through sound, and draw inspiration from film soundscapes and broader artistic references.

Project Building & Artistic Practice

Work towards creating a cohesive body of work. You’ll plan and structure projects such as EPs or conceptual pieces, shaping your ideas into something complete and meaningful.

Performance & Presentation

Understand how your work can extend beyond the screen. You’ll explore the basics of live performance and how to present your music as an experience.

Final Outcome

By the end of the course, you’ll have developed original tracks and a clearer, more confident approach to music production—built entirely from your own space.
